About Cape Cod
Falmouth is renowned for the warmest water, beautiful public beaches and some of the finest restaurants on the Cape. One of the nicest harbors in Cape Cod –Falmouth - is an ideal stopover between Newport to Martha’s Vineyard, Nantucket, Provincetown or Boston. It has a protected harbor with an accessible entrance. Falmouth is located in the southwestern part of Cape Cod and encompasses the villages of Falmouth, Woods Hole, Waquoit, Hatchville & Teaticket. There are two marinas, which are able to accommodate Superyachts; the recently upgraded ‘state of the art’MacDougalls’Cape Cod Marine Service and Falmouth Town Marina.
It is a quaint waterfront town - the second largest on the Cape - with all the amenities you need including fine restaurants, shops, galleries, museums and festivals held throughout the summer months. For those looking to stretch their legs, there is the ‘Shining Sea Bikeway’, a paved pathway of 10.7 miles from North Falmouth to Woods Hole; the bikeway follows the original route of the NY, New Haven and Hartford railroad and follows the coast from Falmouth to Woods Hole, winding along the Vineyards Sound shoreline. Woods Hole, a historic seaside fishing village in the Town of Falmouth, is a world-class research center for marine, biomedical and environmental science; and is home to the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute, the Marine Biological Laboratory and the National Marine Fisheries Service.
Hyannis is the final destination of the newly constructed ‘Walkway to the Sea’and the homeport of Cape Cod. A few Puritans founded this beautiful, well-protected, deep-water harbor in 1602 making it one of the oldest settlements in New England. By the 18th century, over 200 shipmasters had dwellings in Hyannis, and the area became known as ‘the Port’due to its central location and marine activities, and being one of the few natural deep-water harbors on the Cape, which now continues to make it a popular destination for Superyachts. Hyannis acts as a convenient stop before heading towards Boston, Nantucket or Martha’s Vineyard; and has become a favorite port of call for many Captains and crew. The Hyannis Marina is a first class facility offering transient dockage and a convenient location within walking distance to the beaches, world-class cuisine, unique shopping and nightlife. Hyannis is well known as being the summer residence and favored sailing ground of the Kennedy family.
