About Bristol Rhode Island
Bristol – nicknamed the most patriotic town in America - hosts the oldest continuous Fourth of July celebration in the USA and has commemorated its independence since 1785. With a red, white, and blue center stripe on the main road, historic homes, eclectic shops, galleries and fine restaurants, Bristol has all the charm of New England right in the heart of Rhode Island.
Bristol is also proud to be considered by many the cornerstone of RI’s boatbuilding community as home of the Herreshoff brothers who began building sailboats in 1878. The Herreshoff Museum and the America’s Cup Hall of Fame showcase the family’s history and ingenuity for boatbuilding. The Herreshoff Marina, which is able to accommodate Superyachts, came highly recommended by Captains we interviewed, as being a major part of the New England experience for their guests. Bristol has water views from almost anywhere, with shady parks and recreation areas to enjoy this charming New England waterfront community rich in history, scenic waterfront locations, and unique shops.
